Richard Bailey graduated from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo with a degree in Business Finance, and later graduated from the University of North Dakota with a Master of Science in Applied Economics. He was elected to the Coronado City Council in 2012. In 2016, he was elected Mayor and re-elected in 2020. In 2018 Richard was named as one of “40 Under 40” young leaders of San Diego County. Richard is also an avid athlete; having competed in multiple marathons and triathlons, including an Ironman. In addition to serving on the Coronado City Council, Mayor Bailey also sits on the SANDAG Board of Directors as Coronado’s representative.
