Call to Action - Oranges for the Picking
The Story…
Mark Bitterlin, a former Point Loma Rotary Club president, manages a 100-tree orange grove in Rancho Santa Fe. He has offered his crop for harvesting with all oranges going to us for redistribution to organizations in need. We successfully did this project back in May 2020. It’s easy and the more of us that participate the easier it is. It’s outside so we can safely social distance.
The process is simple: pick the oranges, wash/dry/bag the oranges and then, drop off to the places of need. We will not pick all 100 trees; we just pick for 3 hours then we are done. The Rancho Santa Fe club will be coming the weekend after us, we just do a section leaving some for them.
Last time, we delivered oranges to Loaves & Fishes in OB, Peninsula Shepherd Center, San Diego Youth Services and St. Paul’s Senior Center. If you have an organization you would like to bring them to, you absolutely can, we just need to make sure Grove Owner gets a tax receipt, reach out to Jennifer Iannitti for those details 619.277.2007
